Wanted: "CHANGE"...Result: "A BETTER YOU"

The only thing permanent in this world is “change”.

As time passes by in this school, we are constantly changing physically, mentally and emotionally. We change by the good or the bad, but it depends on the person taking the decision on which route he will choose.

In the past 2^nd grading period, I have been doing more on entertainment, and less taking care of my studies. It has been a problem to my parents, and also to my teachers.

So this 3^rd grading period, I am going to try my best to change for a better me. I will change not only for myself, but also for the ones around me, who have been having problems with me. I am truly sorry for the ones who have been having trouble because of me.

For those who are not yet aware of what is happening because of our bad doings, we will all soon realize how wrong we were to have been doing all these things.

For me, we need to change, not for the bad, but for the good, so that everyone of us will have a good life.

Reflection: 2nd Grading

This 2^nd grading period has been hard for us, but despite of that, we learned a lot especially about how to use the notepad.

During 2^nd grading period, I learned how to edit texts in the notepad, learned how to use HTML tags, and I learned how to post anything in the internet using the notepad. Despite of all my knowledge about computers, I didn’t even expect that these would be possible. It’s cool to learn new stuff everyday and I expect that I can learn more in the next grading period.

I am truly thankful to my teacher, Ma’am Vera Cruz, for her hardwork and patience with students like me. We are thankful ma’am for we have learned much in this 2^nd grading period and I hope that there will be more this 3^rd grading period. ^_^

Chemergy: Chemistry and Science Clubbing in Synergy

Chemistry is somewhat a hated subject for students these times. The reason is that it has more complicated processes, languages, and signs that make our mind spin. But it is just as important as our other subjects since despite of the difficulty, it has many uses and contributions like medicines, insecticides and repellants and it also helps develop a better country for our better future.

Synergy is about 2 things that when combined, it provides a unique contribution which cannot be contributed individually by neither of the 2 things. Basing from these informations, Chemistry and Science Clubbing; when they will work together, a remarkable outcome will be the result.

These two, when combined, can possibly contribute something that can improve or fill more of our knowledge about Science and even everything in the world. Also, it can help our country for its betterment for the good of the future.

Promoting Digital Literacy Through English Proficiency

            The modern world is now full of technologies, gadgets and machines created by hardworking and intelligent men. These technologies were used to help people in everyday living. But today, it not has many purposes.

       Digital literacy is about the ability to locate, understand or analyze information using technologies. Technologies are very useful to us students in modern times; they make our communication a lot easier. But being not used to using the English language is not good because it is the International Language. Being familiar with technologies such as computers without knowing much about speaking English can take us to humility and shame and worse, a bad communication with others. So being English proficient is very important in Digital literacy. They must work together for a better communication especially when communicating with other countries.

            Promoting digital literacy is also improving our English proficiency. By using technologies, we can enhance and improve our English proficiency. But not only can technologies can help us, but also reading a lot. So I encourage the readers of this post to read a lot for us to improve our English speaking and writing skills for a better communication through modern technologies.

My Teacher, My Hero

In times of trouble, a hero does not only think of himself but also that of others. He is willing to sacrifice his own safety for the sake of others just like what our national heroes did in order to gain freedom for our country. Nowadays, we have our modern-day heroes and I choose “my teacher” as “my hero” because of so many reasons.

Our teachers spend almost ten hours a day, five times a week at school educating students like me in order to gain knowledge which we can use for our good future. This means that they spend more of their time being at school than being with their family which is a great sacrifice on their part. They also play a great role in molding our behavior because they are considered our second parents and I salute them for the patience they have, especially in dealing with mischievous students. After school hours, they make lesson plans for the next day and at the same time do the household chores even if it means going to sleep late at night. I can imagine how tired our teachers are after a hard day’s work but I can see in their eyes that they are happy with their chosen profession because they always remind us that they will also be happy if, someday, we, students, will be successful in our chosen careers.

Hero of My Life

            For me, a hero is a person who is remembered and honored for his courageous life and exceptional accomplishments. We’ve got so many heroes who died for our country but we must not forget that heroes are not only those who are already passed away. There are also living heroes whom we can call “modern-day heroes”.

            I consider my teachers as my modern-day heroes because of the hardships they have to bear spending their lives teaching students with different kinds of attitudes. It cannot be denied that teenagers nowadays are sometimes hard-headed. Almost all parents who have a minimal number of children find hard time inculcating discipline in their children’s minds. How much more in the part of the teachers who have to take care of an average number of 40 students in his class wherein he doesn’t even have the chance to punish them whenever it is needed because there is already a law banning teachers to punish students. I couldn’t imagine the feelings they have whenever they want to shout at a naughty student but they have to control their emotions. That is a big dilemma on their part.

            Spending almost half of their lives teaching people is a big achievement of teachers. If I’m not mistaken, I think, the time they spend in school is more than the time they spend with their family until they retire at the age of 60. I salute my teachers for their great sacrifices in molding students like me. Although there are many who could also be considered heroes of today, for me, my teachers are my modern-day heroes.

To the SONA of P-Noy

In the first part of his speech, the President emphasized again the issue of wang-wang which, according to him, has become the symbol of change not just in the streets, but also in our collective attitude. According to the President, if the abusive authorities are able to use this wang-wang in disobeying the simple traffic laws, this means that there is also a possibility that they could also have disrespect for the projects funded by the Filipino people. That is why he insisted on fighting wang-wang since the start of his term and according to him, his administration has yielded results. He was proud in saying that self-rated hunger has come down, stock market have reached seven record highs, credit ratings improved and the confidence of investors in our energy sector was revived which meant a cheaper and more reliable source of energy.

As expected, the President included in his speech the wang-wang attitude of the former administration such as the purchase of used helicopters branded as new, the millions of bonuses given to GOCC officials despite the fact that their agencies are already drowning in debt, the existence of delinquent professional taxpayers, the anomalous transactions in the DPWH and the excessive importation of rice benefitting the selfish few, He also cited some of the alleged wasteful programs such as the ill-advised plan of dredging Laguna Lake and the food-for-school programs which were not properly implemented because of no proper identification of beneficiaries. Having discovered all of these corrupt practices of the former administration, the President still hopes that he could completely eliminate this wang-wang attitude although he admits that it still persists.

I can feel the sincerity of the President in eliminating the above-mentioned malpractices which occured during the past administration. I wish that he could do so because I strongly believe that the sufferings being felt by the Filipinos especially the poor ones are due to graft and corruption. Some of our officials are using their authority and power to benefit themselves from the taxpayer’s money. Instead of using the collected taxes for the construction of roads, bridges, school buildings and other infrastructures beneficial to the Filipino people, they put the money in their own pockets not minding their poor countrymen who are not even capable of providing three meals a day for their families and to have a shelter of their own.

It is also great to hear from the President that the housing program for our policemen is being implemented and is even expanding to extend these services to the employees of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology and of the Bureau of Fire Protection. I salute the President for this program because in this way, this could make the policemen think of not being tempted to make a quick buck anymore, instead, they would concentrate on providing security and protection to our countrymen and to our country as well.

As of now, my utmost hope is for the administration of President Noynoy to continuously decrease the unemployment rate in our country. We all know that every year, thousands of fresh graduates join the ranks of those who are hunting for jobs. I just hope that by the time that it will be my turn to graduate from college, if God permit, there are already job opportunities for newly graduates ready so that we no longer need to go abroad to seek for a job.
